Landscapes of Maternal Desire consist of twelve close-up black and white photographs of a child’s naked folds of skin and limbs. Neatly presented in heavy black frames, the small human body is made concrete and tangible as an object of want and longing. Through the zoom of the lens it appears close and intimate, yet also strangely inaccessible, distanced, and fragmented. Encased behind thick panes of glass, a second layer of ‘skin’, it registers as an impenetrable surface - untouchable - forever out of reach.
